Privacy Policy

I. PURPOSE OF THIS NOTICE

The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act requires financial institutions (including mortgage lenders, loan brokers, and real estate settlement service providers) to give consumers a privacy notice that explains the company’s information-sharing practices and to protect the information collected about them. This firm is committed to respecting the privacy of its clients. In order to comply with the GBLA and other applicable federal and state laws and regulations, you are being provided with this document notifying you of the privacy policies and practices of the Law Office of Jennifer K. Williams, Esq., LLC. This notice applies to the non-public personal information (“NPI”) that the firm may gather and disclose about you in the process of issuing a title insurance policy and/or closing your real estate transaction.

II. INFORMATION COLLECTED AND SOURCES FROM WHICH IS MAY BE COLLECTED

This firm does not collect any non-public information about you other than the following:

  • Information I receive from you or from your lender or other representatives on applications or other forms, including but not limited to your name, address, date of birth, telephone number, or social security number;
  • Information about your transaction, such as description, price, or terms of the transaction. This information may come from your lender, realtor, yourself, or other third parties related to your transaction;
  • Unless it is specifically stated otherwise in an amended Privacy Policy Notice, no additional non-public information will be collected about you.
III. INFORMATION THAT MAY BE DISCLOSED TO THIRD PARTIES

In the course of this firm’s general business practices, and in order to facilitate the closing of your transaction, I may disclose the information that I collect (as described above) about you or others without your permission to third parties only as permitted by law and only as necessary to facilitate the closing of your transaction. For example, some NPI such as the names of the parties to the transaction, the property address that is the subject of the transaction, purchase price/loan amount, and/or your date of birth may be disclosed to some of the following third parties:

  • a title abstractor in order to obtain a title abstract for purposes of title examination and issuance of a title policy;
  • to an HOA to obtain HOA account information as necessary to facilitate the closing of your transaction
  • to an insurance company or agent for purposes of obtaining the necessary insurance documentation and/or insurance binders necessary for your closing

The disclosures above are not meant to be an exhaustive list, but are provided to illustrate some instances in which it may be necessary for this firm to disclose some of your NPI and for what purpose. The disclosures described above are permitted by law. I require any third party who receives information from me to agree to not disclose or use the information provided other than to carry out the purpose(s) for which it was disclosed.

THIS FIRM DOES NOT DISCLOSE ANY NONPUBLIC PERSONAL INFORMATION ABOUT YOU WlTH ANY THIRD PARTIES FOR ANY PURPOSE THAT IS NOT SPECIFICALLY PERMITTED BY LAW AND DOES SO ONLY AS NECESSARY TO FACILITATE THE CLOSING OF YOUR TRANSACTION.

HOW YOUR INFORMATION IS PROTECTED AND SECURED

This firm restricts access to nonpublic information about you to those employees and/or third parties that need to know that information in order to provide products or services to you and only as necessary to facilitate the closing of your transaction. The firm maintains physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard your nonpublic personal information, keeping it confidential and secure.
